| No organization, much less
a voluntary organization like Toastmasters International (TMI) through
its many member clubs, could function without a group of people dedicated
towards helping their fellow members achieve their goals and aspirations
The GATM Executive Committe, freely elected by the general membership
and representing the overall member's interest, is charged with the responsibility
of doing just that, within the guidelines of the TMI organization and
all club level bylaws that may inluence any action to be undertaken.
Specifically, as stated in the Mission Statement
of Glen Abbey Toastmasters, the club is to provide a mutually supportive
and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity
to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence
and personal growth.
Membership to the Club Executive is open to all members in good standing.
Prospective incumbents for the various positions are elected by the general
membership. Elections take place towards the end of the current season
(usually in May) for the next September-to-June season.
As a club member, you are encouraged to run for office and exercise and
likely improve your present leadership abilities. It is the responsibility
of the 'Past President' to encourage all able members to take on roles
of leadership and ensure that several names are put forth for each position.
