Selecting a Club

All Toastmasters clubs structure their educational programs based on the guidelines issued and monitored by Toastmasters International (TMI).

As you would expect, there are differences between clubs based on when and where they meet; the number of members and their standing within the TMI educational progression; structure of the weekly meetings, annual fees, social events, etc.

In addition, as in any organization, the personalities of the membership and the atmosphere thereby created, play an important part in differentiating each club.

Glen Abbey would love to have you as a member, but we encourage you to visit several clubs in the immediate area and select one that appeals to you as well as fits into your time schedule. Click on the link below.

Once you have decided to join Glen Abbey, click to download the Application form below, complete it, and give it to our VP Membership on your next visit. Welcome to our club !

Membership Fees

Being a non profit organization, membership fees are based solely on recovering anticipated club expenses.

The major portion of the fees pertain to the cost of meeting room rental, followed by Toastmasters International dues and subsequently expenses relating to club and area level speech contests. Any cost overruns have to be covered by occasional fundraising events (auctions, 50/50 draws, etc.)

The annual membership fee is based on a 10-month season (September to June following) and is payable in full up front. Fees for the second year of your membership are prorated to the beginning of the regular season, ie. September. (For example, a person joining during January would have their second year's fees prorated over 6 months, January to June.

Rates for 2005/06 Season

New Membership: $220.00 per season
Member Renewal: $195.00 per season

The one-time surcharge for new members covers the cost of Toastmasters International 'New Membership Kit', a set of publications to guide you in your quest to improve your communication and leadership skills.

Optional Summer Club

For those members wishing to continue their speaking assignments during July & August, a Summer Club is usually made available if enough interest exists. These sessions are open to all clubs within Area-7, meet every 2 weeks, and usually carry a cost of $3.00 per meeting.
